Whee! I am so excited! My Golden Section quilt has been hanging at Austin Bergstrom Airport for a bit now and I have been so anxious to see it. It is part of an exhibit from the Austin Modern Quilt Guild, which I am a member of. A friend of mine found it while flying into Austin and snapped a photo for me. Wish my travel plans were taking me somewhere by plane before it comes down 7/14 but they don’t. I am so very happy to have this picture though!
A little about the quilt:
I hand drafted the pattern using the Golden Section or Divine Proportion as some prefer to reference it. Ever since my days in college studying architecture I’ve been obsessed with the proportioning system and have used it to design stained glass, ceramic tiles and buildings. Although I didn’t build the buildings I did make the stained glass, ceramic tiles and now a quilt. Once I had the pattern drafted I used it to paper piece the mini quilt. It was custom quilted by me on a Handiquilter using some longarm templates I laser cut but mostly it is hand guided.
